Evasion Mont Blanc
St Gervais, Megeve, Les Contamines, Combloux, Les Houches:
St Gervais/Megeve:
The skiing is reached by a fast 20 person gondola from the outskirts of town and links into the huge Evasion Mont Blanc with 420km of piste. It is linked to St Nicolas-de-Veroce and across Mt d'Arbois to Megeve. This area is particularly good for intermediates who want to cover lots of ground. The Mont Joly and Mont Joux areas have the steepest slopes, some off-piste and a terrain park.
Les Contamines:
Les Contamines, with its close proximity to Mont Blanc, has an enviable snow record and with mainly north facing slopes, holds the snow well. Most of the slopes are above the tree line with 120km of piste and offers something for everyone with a mixture of blues, reds and blacks. The off-piste is plentiful without being intimidating, although those that fancy some ski touring will not be disappointed.
Les Houches:
Les Houches has been the location for the world famous Kandahar downhill race over the last 4 years - one of the hardest technical races of the season. Yet the majority of the pistes are family friendly and well served by a recently up-dated lift system. It's linked direcly from St Gervais by the Tramway de Mont Blanc and is a great day out for the skiing and [some would say most importanly] the fantastic mountain restaurants, particularly the Vieille Luge.
